Concussions

A concussion happens when your brain gets shaken inside your head from a hit, bump, or sudden movement. This can happen in sports when there is contact, a fall, or a quick change in direction. Signs of a concussion include headaches, dizziness, confusion, sensitivity to light, or feeling slow or tired. It may seem small at first, but continuing to play can make it worse and increase risk of a bigger injury. When your body is tired or your muscle aren’t stabilizing your head, your is more vulnerable to impact.

Let’s learn how to protect your brain!

Think of your body like a control system. Your neck and balance help keep your head steady. When the muscles in your neck are stronger, they help reduce how much your head moves when contact happens. Practicing good technique, avoiding head-first contact, and limiting repeated hits during practice can go a long way. Wearing proper equipment like a well-fitted helmet and resting when needed are just as important. Simple exercises like neck resistance holds, single-leg balance, planks, and reaction drills can help improve stability and control, so you can play safer and without worry on the field!
